Our staff members have trained at Bumble University, Wella International, Vidal Sassoon Academy, Sebastian Professional, Tigi/Toni, Guy, Hairdreams, and many others. As a team we are regularly involved in classes, photo shoots, and various projects that keep us fresh, unique, and inspired.
Heather has been a member of the Wak Shack team for eleven years and in the beauty industry as an aesthetician, makeup artist, and hairdresser for fourteen years. She is also a network educator for Bumble & Bumble as well as a teacher for our assistant program. Heather has a large male clientele base and is known for her custom color creations on the ladies. She also has a special talent for fast and efficient waxing. Heather specializes in makeup applications where she finds pride in customizing classic looks. In her hairstyling, she loves to take inspiration from classic looks and interpret them into modern contemporary styles. Heather enjoys using Sumotech because of its defined texture, scent, and versatility.
Filomena has been working with hair for over eleven years, was the manager for four years, and is now the owner of Wak Shack Salon. She loves working with a client’s natural texture to find a style and color that perfectly suits their face shape. She is inspired by nature, all human cultures, and by taking advanced education classes as well as educating other stylists. Her favorite Bumble and Bumble cocktail is Curl Conscious Cremes with Styling Creme because the combination provides extra control and shiny curls.
Emily found her passion for creating up-dos after fourteen years of working with hair. In Emily’s estimation, the up-do is hair construction in its purist form, which allows the highest creative freedom. Emily is equally enthusiastic about cutting hair. She sees the cut as a delicate balance of construction and destruction, and finds great inspiration in working with a client whose lifestyle and face shape gives her a blueprint to work from. When Emily creates an up-do, she absolutely loves using Bumble and Bumble Extra Strength Holding Spray.
Adam is a firm believer that we don’t choose the things we love to do in life…they choose us. Originally from Chicago, Adam has over ten years of experience doing hair and makeup. He finds his inspiration for the ever-changing face of beauty from his travels, painting, drawing, and sculpting. Today Adam divides his hair and makeup talents at Wak Shack Salon and internationally for print assignments, runway, and theatrical shows. He is also a member of the Look Artist Agency where he continues to work on photo-shoots with high profile clients such as Harpers Bazaar, Chanel, and Oscar de la Renta – just to name a few. Adam loves using Bumble and Bumble Mending line: “No matter what your hair concerns are, the Mending regime gives hair an extra boost and keeps it in its most optimum condition with an extra conditioning treatment.”
Sara believes that since completing the vigorous assistant program at the salon she is able to tackle any head of hair. The extensive salon education provided by Wak Shack has given her the skills and products necessary to provide expert cuts and color. Sara finds the beauty and potential in every client, and she adds to their style by using Sumotech for rough texture and Defrizz for slip and shine.
CJ has styling abilities, enthusiasm, and fashion sassiness that make her a perfect fit for the Wak Shack family. She has been in the industry as a stylist and cosmetology educator since 2003. CJ is passionate about creating the perfect style for guests by drawing from their personality and lifestyle. Her inspiration comes from combining the knowledge and ideas from classes with the eclectic San Francisco art scene. CJ’s favorite Bumble & Bumble product is the Thickening Spray because it gives life to hair.
Claudia completed the assistant program at Wak Shack and is ready for anything! She is inspired by people, architecture, and art. Claudia loves it when people come to her with new ideas and they work together to create a new and exciting look. Bb Spray de Mode is her go-to product because it is a happy medium between a workable and finishing spray. She loves that the spray can be layered and layered and that it adds shine to the hair - everyone needs shine in their life.
Janine joined the salon as a front desk coordinator, but we liked her so much we brought her on as the assistant. She is inspired by individuality and style and says that there “is no point in falling in line when you can express yourself and what you love with how you look.” Her favorite Bb product is the hair powder line because they extend a blow dry with volume or give fullness to a quick updo.
Fressia has been in the beauty industry for ten years now. Her passion began when she was doing hair on the beach in Mexico finding constant inspiration by the ocean and surrounding nature. She finds pure joy in making people beautiful and happy. Fressia loves doing updo styles for weddings and men’s haircuts.
Brilliantine is one of her favorite Bb products because of the soft movement with shine that it gives the hair.
Becky is our front desk coordinator, and she enjoys her time at the salon because she is free to be her fun-loving self. Becky loves using Brilliantine for the extra shine and curl definition it gives her hair with the bonus of an amazing scent.
